Hertha-Nathorff Program

Young female physicians during their specialist training are supported by the Hertha-Nathorff Program. They can be released from patient care duties for up to one year in order to conduct a research project.

Research on teaching methods in medicine are funded through an award, research projects, reimbursement of publication fees and travel reimbursement.

Publication Fees

Publications in high-ranking open access journals are supported by the Medical Faculty through reimbursement of 50% of the publication fees.

The Mobility Program offers a travel budget to scientists participating in our PhD program and in the Experimental Medicine program.

The Medical Faculty can reimburse travel costs related to cooperative research projects on teaching methods in medicine and participation in related congresses.

Third-party Funding

Young postgraduate scientists can receive funding from the Medical Faculty for their first research project as start-up financing to prepare their first external grant proposals.

The first DFG (German Research Foundation)-funded project of each scientist is rewarded by the Medical Faculty: the applicant has a higher share of the overheads at his disposal.

Scientists who successfully attract funding with overheads for a junior research group  are rewarded by the Medical Faculty with an additional post-doc position for the group.
