Project N7: Diagnostic role and predictive value of cyclic nucleotides in neuropsychiatric co-morbidities of Alzheimer’s disease
AD begins as synaptic disorder caused at least in part, by amyloid ß (Aß) oligomers. Alzheimer’s disease (AD) begins as synaptic disorder. The second messenger cGMP is involved in the Aß mediated modulation of distinct synaptic glutamate receptors in AD pathology, a common mechanism in neuropsychiatric diseases.
Project N9: Analysis of neuronal circuit relevant for behavioral traits in Shank KO mouse models and iPSCs derived neuronal cultures
Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) are relatively common developmental diseases, about 1% of ASD cases (prevalence: 1 in 16.000) are due to mutations of SHANK genes. No causative treatment options are currently available.
Project N10: Chemogenetic and molecular dissection of prefrontal signalling mechanisms underlying impulsivity and attention
Highly impulsive behaviour and deficits of attention are core symptoms of various psychiatric diseases, e.g. ADHD and schizophrenia. We aim to identify novel drugable proteins, that may improve such cognitive-behavioural deficits.
Project N11: Neurochemical approaches for diagnosis and follow-up of patients with depression
Major depressive disorder (MDD) is a complex disorder with a high lifetime prevalence. Within this project we aim to improve the understanding of MDD and to obtain neurochemical diagnostic approaches for the individual patients.
