Accommodation and Catering Services

Attendance seminars of the study program will be held at the Science Conference Center „Schloss Reisensburg“ of Ulm University, near the town of Günzburg, which is located about 40 km east of Ulm. The picturesque castle „Schloss Reisensburg“, dating back to the 14th Century and now owned by Ulm University, is situated on a hill close to the Danube River providing high-quality accommodation and conference facilities for seminar guests of Ulm University.

The 45 single rooms and 5 double rooms are all equipped in a convenient yet modern style with sanitary facilities, large working desk with direct dial telephone and high-speed internet with cable connection. There are “sitting corners” furnished with minibars located between the guest rooms that act like remote niches to foster personal discussions and communication among the seminar participants.

The Science Conference Center has its own first-class catering services. Breakfast buffet, coffee breaks, a two-course lunch and a three-course dinner are served in coordination with the scientific program of the seminar.

For after-hour communication there is a nicely furnished “Gothic Bar” in the oldest part of the main castle building where guests may relax after a hard day of work.

The Science Conference Center “Schloss Reisensburg” is not open to the public. Participants may enjoy the privacy of a historic site.

Conference Facilities and Communication Technology

The conference rooms are equipped with all modern technical conference tools (e.g., data- and video projector, videoconference equipment, multimedia-PC, television, large scale screen). The “Red Conference Area” is located on the ground floor of the historical main building and serves groups between 30-100 persons. The “Blue Conference Area” is located on the second floor and is suitable for groups up to 30 persons. Both areas are supplemented by smaller rooms in order to facilitate the exchange of ideas in a pleasant atmosphere.

Complimentary wireless internet access is provided in all meeting rooms and public areas. A small Internet Café free of charge is also available.

How to get to Schloss Reisensburg

By plane

The nearest international airports are located in Stuttgart, Munich and Frankfurt. At Frankfurt airport there is a train station located directly within the terminal from which one can take a direct train to Ulm (about 2.5 hours). Arriving in Ulm it is necessary to change into a train to Guenzburg (about 15 min).

At Stuttgart and Munich airport, a local train (S-Bahn) brings you to Stuttgart/Munich main station (in the city center), from which you can catch a train to Guenzburg (usually via change of trains in Ulm).

Arriving in Guenzburg we recommend taking a taxi to your final destination “Schloss Reisensburg”. In case there is no taxi in front of the train station, please dial: +49-8221-1414 or +49-8221-1515 for the local taxi companies. The castle is located about 3 km from the train station.

By car

  • Leave the Autobahn A8 (coming from Stuttgart or from Munich) at Exit “Günzburg” and follow the signs to “Günzburg”
  • Stay on this road (Bundesstrasse B16) for about 3.3 km. At the junction “Günzburg Nord/Bahnhof” make a left-turn
  • After about 250 metres turn left again into “Ludwig-Heilmeyer-Straße”, signposted “Reisensburg”.
  • This road leads you in the village “Reisensburg”. When the road ends in a final junction, please turn left and follow the road straight ahead and up the hill.
  • On the top of the hill you find a parking lot free of charge in front of the main gate of Schloss Reisensburg.
